Searching

There are two methods by which you can search for the legislation you want on the SLD website. These are:

There are also two sets of indexes, where all the legislation is listed either in alphabetical or chronological order:

A Quick search, as the name implies, is very simple. On the search bar, which appears on every page of the website, specify the criteria you want to search on, then click the 'Go' button.

You can specify details in any combination of these boxes: Type the title or part of a title you want to search for in the 'Title' box; Type the year of legislation you want to search for in the 'Year' box; Type the number of the legislation you want to search for in the 'Number' box; Select the type of legislation you want to search for in the 'Legislation type' box. Click the 'Go' button to perform the search.

To perform an Advanced search you first need to click the 'Advanced search' hyperlink on the search bar to open the Advanced search page. You can then specify the criteria you want to search on and launch the search by clicking the 'Find' button.

Click the 'Advanced search' hyperlink to obtain the Advanced search page. Specify any combination of search criteria in these fields: 'Title', 'Year', 'Number', 'As at the date', 'Text', 'Extent'. Click the 'Go' button to perform the search.

For details of how to make the most of an Advanced search (or indeed a Quick search), see Search Techniques.

As well as the two search methods, the two indexes are also available from the search bar:

Click the 'A-Z index' hyperlink to obtain the A to Z Index page. Click the 'Chronological Index' hyperlink to obtain the Chronological Index page.
